2. Permitted Use & File Ownership
Metadataum provides free browser-based tools intended for inspecting and cleaning metadata in image files. You agree to use the service only for lawful purposes.
You are solely responsible for all image files you open, inspect, or process using Metadataum. You agree that you will only process files that you own, or files for which you have explicit right, authorization, or legal permission to inspect and alter.
3. Tool Availability & Supported Formats
Metadataum currently supports client-side inspection and metadata cleaning for JPEG, PNG, and WebP image formats. We make no commitments that any particular tool, format, or feature will remain uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or browser configuration.
4. Metadata Removal Limitations
Please note the following technical and practical boundaries:
- No Anonymity Guarantee: Removing supported metadata from an image does not guarantee that the file is completely untraceable or anonymous. Other factors, including visual image content, unique photographic features, or publishing context, may identify you or the image subject.
- Supported Structures Only: Metadata cleaning targets recognized, supported file container structures (such as standard EXIF APP1, XMP, IPTC, and C2PA JUMBF chunks). It does not guarantee detection or removal of non-standard, obfuscated, or proprietary metadata formats.
- Pixel-Level Watermarks: Metadata cleaning removes header blocks; it does not erase visible watermarks or invisible pixel-domain watermarks (such as Google SynthID).
- Variability: Results may vary depending on how the image was generated, saved, edited, or pre-processed by third-party applications.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
Metadataum and all tools provided on the site are offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, statutory, or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and technical accuracy.
6. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Metadataum, its creators, or operators be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the site or its tools. Because all image processing runs locally on your client device and your original files are not modified on disk, you are responsible for maintaining backups of your original image assets.
