Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

1. Browser-Local Image Processing

Metadataum is engineered so that image inspection and metadata-cleaning operations execute locally inside your web browser. When you select or drag an image into our tools:

  • Your image file is read directly into your device's browser memory using standard JavaScript FileReader APIs.
  • Binary container parsing, metadata detection, and metadata excision take place on your client device.
  • Your image contents and image files are not uploaded to Metadataum servers for metadata inspection or cleaning.

While processing occurs on your client machine, we do not claim that any software offers absolute or impenetrable privacy or security. You remain responsible for safeguarding the devices and networks you use.

2. Website Usage Data

Like most websites, our web hosting infrastructure and service providers may automatically collect standard technical log information when you load our pages. This may include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, date and time of visits, and basic interaction metrics. This log information is used solely for maintaining service availability, monitoring traffic volume, and mitigating malicious traffic.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Metadataum may use cookies or similar browser storage mechanisms where applicable for:

  • Basic website functionality and preferences.
  • Aggregated web analytics to understand how visitors navigate the site.
  • Advertising delivery and frequency capping via third-party advertising partners.

4. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics (such as GA4) to collect aggregated, non-personally identifiable information about site traffic, page views, and user flows. Google Analytics uses cookies and device identifiers to compile reports on website activity. Information generated by Google Analytics about your use of the website is processed and stored by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Advertising

To keep Metadataum free to access, we may display advertisements powered by Google AdSense or related Google advertising services. Third-party advertising vendors, including Google, use cookies or unique device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other sites on the internet.

These advertising networks may process information such as your browser type, device information, interactions with advertisements, and approximate location derived from your network information in accordance with their own policies.

6. Third-Party Services

This website relies on select third-party technical providers:

  • Google Fonts: Web typography stylesheets loaded from Google's content delivery networks.
  • OpenStreetMap: Outbound links provided in the metadata viewer to inspect optional GPS coordinates on OpenStreetMap.
  • Analytics & Advertising: Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above.

Each third-party service processes information according to its respective privacy policy. We encourage you to review their terms directly.

7. Data Retention

Because image processing occurs strictly in your browser memory, Metadataum does not store, retain, or catalogue your image files on servers. Once you close or reload the browser tab, the in-memory image data is discarded by your browser.

Standard technical server logs and third-party analytics or advertising records are maintained according to the standard retention schedules and policies of their respective operators.

8. User Choices & Privacy Controls

You have options to manage your privacy settings:

  • Browser Cookies: You can configure your browser to block, refuse, or delete cookies. Blocking certain cookies may affect how advertising or preferences operate.
  • Google Ad Personalization: You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com).
  • Analytics Opt-Out: Google provides a browser add-on to prevent Google Analytics data collection.

9. Children's Privacy

Metadataum is a general-audience technical utility and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under applicable local age thresholds). We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory updates. Any changes will be posted directly on this page with an updated revision date.
